Bodhran and Percussion, Come From Away
Aharon is new at OSF this season. He plays traditional and contemporary percussion from many genres. Other theatres: Co-composer and multi-instrumentalist San Francisco Mime Troupe’s Too Big to Fail and Oil & Water. Tabla and bansuri for Palo Alto Children’s Theater’s Jungle Book. Drum set for San Jose’s Three Below Theater’s The People in the Picture. Performer and musician for One People Voice/Gamelan X (San Francisco, Bali, Java) Situbanda. Co-composer and musician for The Shotgun Players’ Ragnarok & many other productions. Accompaniment for dance companies Axis, Lines Ballet, ODC, Harupin Ha, sundry dance/theater productions. Professional ensembles: Sean Hayes, Michelle Alany, Fared Shafinury, Lucia Comnes, Dan Cantrell, Gamelan X, many more. Training: Aharon has trained with many great teachers from Bali to Ireland to São Paulo. Including: drums since 6th grade- Tom Donlinger (Van Morisson) and Jim Dalrymple (Cal Tjader); After college- tabla and ragas - masters Swapan Chaudhuri and Ali Akbar Khan and bansuri flute - Ashok Lal (Mehta) and Steve Gorn; Irish Trad mentorship- Jan Peters (Gallowglass); Latin percussion - Conjunto Cespedes; West African percussion - Souleymane “Vieux” Ann (Habib Koite & Bamada!).
