Myra Su is a puppeteer based in Chicago. Her primary medium is in paper, including experimentations with crankie, shadow, video, and animation. She is interested in using puppetry to combine lo-fi and hi-fi technologies together to create something new. Most recently, she was a featured artist with the Neo-Futurists for the 2022 Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival. Also in 2022, Goodnight Shadow, her short puppet film made during COVID lockdown, was presented at the London International Mime Festival along with a selection of other Handmade Puppet Dreams films. In addition to her independent work, she is a touring puppeteer with Manual Cinema, an Emmy Award winning performance collective. She also teaches puppetry workshops and co-curates a quarterly puppet slam, “Nasty, Brutish & Short.” For more: myrasu.com
