Director, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Marcela Lorca is a director and choreographer known for her dynamic storytelling and visceral direction. Directing credits include Anna in the Tropics (Asolo), Stir (Old Globe), Stones in His Pockets (Latte Da), Helen, Twelfth Night, Emilia, Comedy or Errors, Thunder Knocking on the Door, Iphigenia, The Winter’s Tale, Into the Woods (Ten Thousand Things), Caroline; Or Change (Guthrie, Syracuse Stage), The Count of Monte Cristo(OSF), Burial at Thebes, Crimes of the Heart, (Guthrie), Blood Wedding (Guthrie, Kansas City Rep) Disgraced (Guthrie, McCarter, Milwaukee Rep), The House of the Spirits (Mixed Blood) and Scorched (Syracuse Stage). With 150 productions choreographed, 10 devised plays and as co-founder of two actor training programs, she received the 2019 Zelda Fichandler Award for her work’s impact. Previously, Marcela served as Movement Director and Director of Company Development at the Guthrie Theater, she was Artistic Director of Ten Thousand Things Theater from 2018 to 2024, and is currently a freelance director. www.marcelalorca.com
