Janice Evans

ASL Interpreter, The Cymbeline Project

Janice is a multi-lingual child of Deaf & Hearing parents. Japanese Sign Language and Spoken English were her first languages; ASL became her second after moving to California as a young girl. Janice is the honored daughter of her late mother, Yuko, and stepdad, Karl Reed (both Deaf) and her late hearing father, Dennis Dickson. She is married to a wonderful man, Richard. Together they have 8 children, 15 grandchildren, and 3 fur-babies. Her favorite pastimes are traveling, being a creative craft guru, writing stories & poetry and cooking. Achieving her bachelor’s degree in Business Management, she decided to switch professions and found a beautiful life in interpreting for the last 20 years and earned her NIC certification through RID. Interpreting provided the diversity she was searching for. As a freelance interpreter, she has interpreted in the fields of Business, Medical, Education, Legal, Theatre, OES, Government, etc., her favorites being Legal and Theatre. Honoring her late mother’s love of music, theatre, and movies she interpreted the following plays: Best of Broadway (two years), Drood, Cats, and The Little Mermaid.
