Hala Baki is a theater director and scholar who specializes in Arab, Middle Eastern, and North African American theater. This is her first production at OSF. Her recent directing credits include the devised ensemble play Writer’s Block (2021), Kareem Fahmy’s American Fast (2021) and Yussef El Guindi’s Cha Cha (2020). Hala is also a lecturer in the Theatre and Dance Department at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and holds a PhD in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies from UC Santa Barbara. Together, her research and artistic work advance the representation of marginalized and misrepresented communities in American theater.
