Excerpt from The Oregonian, Marty Hughley
June 22, 2009
Director Kate Buckley first worked at OSF two years ago, staging a "Taming of the Shrew" that shed all the battle-of-the-sexes baggage and focused instead on Kate and Petruchio as a fascinatingly complex and actually rather well-matched couple.
"Much Ado" isn't freighted in the same way, but it does have its seemingly cynical elements. And here, too, Buckley approaches a play about quarrelsome would-be lovers with such a clear, light, loving touch that it shines like new.
