The Bowmer Society is a group of forward-thinking donors dedicated to nurturing the next generation of both theatre artists and theatre audiences. By supporting OSF's extensive student outreach efforts both on campus and on the road, Bowmer Society members enable us to offer deeply discounted tickets and workshops for students and their teachers who would not otherwise be able to afford them.

Gifts to the Bowmer Society help take the Festival to students and bring students to the Festival. That means workshops, lectures, teacher training, buses, lodging, and discounted tickets.

During the 2007 season, donors helped provide:

For student groups

• 865 on-campus workshops, classes and lectures
• 61,500 deeply discounted tickets
• 556 school visit events at more than 130 different schools making 80,000 connections with students, teachers, families, and the community

For aspiring theatre professionals

• A 2-week intensive seminar for 65 high school juniors

For teachers

• 931 received guides, workshops, seminars and previews designed to provide insight and strategies for bringing Shakespeare alive in the classroom

"We wanted to use the fruits of our personal successes to encourage young people in their education. We chose to involve ourselves in the arts because we saw that they were the first to be cut when funds were tight. We also felt very often talented artistic students do not always get the same level of recognition their athletic peers receive. Those who give at the $250 level or above are invited to the annual Bowmer Society Event which is filled with lively educational workshops, reserved theatre seating and opportunities to mingle with company members.

Donations of any amount are welcome and are fully tax deductible.  All funds support our education programs.
