This is their third season in the OSF Green Show.

Spirited traditional English Garland dancers from Portland, Oregon

Wild Rose Garland celebrates a continuing women's tradition of folk dance from England. We began performing in 1995 in Portland, Oregon. Our venues include folk festivals, community celebrations and special events. For many years we have performed at Seattle's NW Folklife Festival and Salem World Beat Festival. In 2005 we traveled to Chesterfield, England and performed at several venues including Hardwicke Hall. Currently we have 11 dancers and up to 6 musicians. Our group comes from varied backgrounds around the Portland area.

Wild Rose Garland on Community:  We are part of a community of English ritual dance teams in Portland, Oregon, that includes Bridgetown Morris Men, Renegade Rose Morris and Iron Mountain Sword. The English ritual tradition goes back centuries and our May Day celebration is a central part. We are the keepers of the Maypole and encourage the community to join us in the dance and participate on May Day morning or in local schools and retirement centers.
