Maria Underwood, Medford, Oregon, has worked for La Clinica for 10 years, serving as the organizations Development Director, a position she has held since 2005. Before joining La Clinicas staff, Ms. Underwood served as the Hispanic outreach advocate for Dunn House, a shelter for abused women and children. Ms. Underwood graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a bachelors degree in sociology. Her extensive community service includes the boards of Hearts & Vines and Ashland Community Hospital Foundation. In addition, Ms. Underwood finds time to support the work of Uno Voz; the Chamber Latino Network Action Team; and Ballet Folklorico, Ritmo Alegre. Ms. Underwood relocated to Medford in 1997 from Tempe, Arizona, when her husband, Verne, was hired by Rogue Community College. The couple has two children. She is an avid reader who says she runs to let off steam. She enjoys traveling, cooking with her daughter and seeing movies with her family. Ms. Underwood is a Sustainer member and has attended a great many productions since 2004.
