One of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s core values is education. Each season we seek to turn theatre into a meaningful, lifelong experience for thousands of students on our stages and at their schools.

outreach

We visit more than 130 schools each year, connecting with over 80,000 students, teachers, families, and community members.

School Visit Program

Two-actor teams bring minimum props and maximum talent. They teach, perform and engage students in on-your-feet workshops. After discovering Shakespeare and the power of language, students are able to express themselves like never before.

School Visit Partnership Program

OSF supports underserved schools through a three-year commitment, including annual actor team residencies and teacher training at OSF. The finale is a field trip to the Festival that includes subsidized travel, tickets and workshops for scores of deserving students. It’s a program with profound and lasting returns.

Recipient of the Children's Theatre Foundation of America Citation and Medallion Award for its half-century of outreach to teachers and youth, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival enhances the power of live performance for more than 200,000 people every year.
