classes for all playgoers

Spend a weekend or a week with fellow theatre lovers while exploring one or more plays in depth. All classes include:

  • Tickets to performances
  • Class sessions led by theatre artists and scholars
  • Lively discussions and lectures
  • Opportunities to hear from company members



unfolding: the clay cart (march 22 – 23)

A weekend class devoted to this 2,100-year-old classic tale from India. Class fee includes a ticket to The Clay Cart. Tickets to Fences, Welcome Home, Jenny Sutter and A Midsummer Night’s Dream are available at an additional cost. $140.

unfolding: the further adventures of hedda gabler
(april 19 – 20)

A weekend class focused on Jeff Whitty’s irreverently funny new play. Class fee includes a ticket to The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler. Tickets to The Clay Cart, Welcome Home, Jenny Sutter and A Midsummer Night’s Dream are available at an additional cost.  $140.

shakespeare comprehensive (june 18 – 22)
five days, four plays

An in-depth study of the Shakespeare plays in the 2008 season led by a scholar. Class fee includes tickets to The Comedy of Errors, Coriolanus, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Othello plus two Festival Noon Lectures. Tickets to Welcome Home, Jenny Sutter, Our Town, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler and Fences are available at an additional cost. $450.

wake up with shakespeare (4 sessions)
six days, seven plays

An introduction to and exploration of selected plays in the 2008 season. Attend A View from the Bridge, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Comedy of Errors, Othello, Our Town, The Clay Cart and Coriolanus plus a concert and a Festival Noon Lecture or two Festival Noon Lectures.  $615.


Sessions:

elderhostel/senior ventures

Elderhostel is an educational program for older adults who want to expand their horizons and develop new interests. Coordinated by Southern Oregon University (SOU) in Ashland, OSF provides the faculty for the sessions entitled "Backstage Life: A Week at the Theatre." Participants attend morning sessions, go on a Backstage Tour and see plays in the OSF season. Senior Ventures is a similar but separate program at SOU providing additional opportunities on and off campus.
