audition information
Thanks for your interest in joining the acting company at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Please read the following guidelines to better ensure you submit appropriately.
First, please note that all submissions and auditions are for the acting company (approximately 80-90 actors), who are in residence in Ashland, Oregon, between 6 to 10 months of the year, playing and understudying multiple roles in our 11-show season. Every season we add new members to the company – that number can range from 10-20 new actors who are cast for the roles that are available in the upcoming season.
Some of those spots are for Non-AEA actors (in order to qualify as a non-Equity actor you cannot be a member of any of the 4-A unions: SAG, AFTRA, AGVA , AGMA, OR GIAA. )
You must be legally eligible to accept employment in the United States to qualify for an audition. Candidates will be required to present proof of U.S. citizenship or prior permission to work in the U.S. with any employer.
We hold auditions in New York & Los Angeles every year by appointment only. If you would like to submit yourself, please e-mail a current picture and resume. The resume should have phone and email contacts on it as well as your union status. Please include the city in which you could audition in the subject heading.

(Note: actors in other cities should submit here also. Other cities may be added to the audition tour, or video auditions may be requested.)
We also hold auditions in Ashland, Oregon. HOWEVER – these auditions are only for actors who are residents of the Rogue Valley. Because of demand and limited time we will need to see proof of residency to guarantee an audition slot.

We also hold Equity Principal auditions per the Equity guidelines every year. These calls are posted in Backstage and on Equity’s online callboard.
Our casting season is in the months between May – October, and that is generally when all the above calls take place.
Please know that because of the volume of requests we receive we cannot personally respond to all the submissions, but we do look at all qualified candidates’ submissions.
Please do not mail a submission to the theater’s administrative office. We cannot guarantee that a mailed submission will be seen. An email submission is the only way to guarantee that your submission reaches us. Please also note that we are unable to accommodate requests for “drop-in” auditions in Ashland.
Thank you.
