Bill Rauch

Director, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice

In eight seasons at OSF: Director, Equivocation, By the Waters of Babylon (world premieres); The Music Man, The Clay Cart, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler, Romeo and Juliet, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Comedy of Errors, Hedda Gabler, Handler.

Other theatres: Cofounder of Cornerstone Theater Company (artistic director 1986-2006), where he directed more than 40 productions. World premieres:The Clean House, Medea/Macbeth/Cinderella and a contemporary adaptation of The Cherry Orchard (Yale Repertory Theatre); Living Out and For Here or To Go? (Mark Taper Forum); The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler (South Coast Repertory). New York premiere: The Clean House (Lincoln Center). Productions elsewhere include South Coast Repertory, Guthrie Theatre, Arena Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, Great Lakes Theater Festival, En Garde Arts.

Other credits: Associate artist at Yale Repertory Theatre and South Coast Repertory; board member, Theatre Communications Group, 1992-98; Claire Trevor Professor of Drama at University of California, Irvine (2005-07).

Film/TV: Judging Amy.

Awards: Margo Jones Award (2009); United States Artists Prudential Fellow (2008); Los Angeles Weekly, Garland, Connecticut Critics Circle, DramaLogue and Helen Hayes awards for direction;Emmy and Ovationnominations; inaugural "Leadership for a Changing World" award.

Education: BA, Harvard University.
