Richard L. Hay first came to OSF as a young designer and has since worked his way to Senior Scenic and Theater Designer. From 1950 to 2007, Richard designed more than 215 productions at OSF. Richard was also the principal influence and created the design for all Festival theaters. The Richard L. Hay Fellowship has been established to honor his legacy.
This four-month fellowship is designed to provide professional development to early career designers from all disciplines. The Hay Fellow will have the opportunity to assistant design at least one Shakespeare and one other classic or large scale work at OSF. Only one such fellowship is offered each year. Housing, travel expenses and a $5,000 stipend are provided.
To apply, send the following materials to Kimiko Shimoda, FAIR Experience Manager:
- A design portfolio and resumé.
- An essay expressing your interest in design at OSF, how this fellowship will enhance your growth as a theatre artist, future plans as a designer, what diversity means to you, and your vision for theatre.
- Three letters of recommendation.
