OSF offers FAIR opportunities in Costumes, Lighting, Props, Set Construction and Scenic Painting and Sound. FAIR applicants for positions in Production must meet the requirements specified on the "Four Distinct Awards" page.

Costumes

OSF operates a large, state-of-the-art costume shop employing more than 60 seasonal artisans. Participation in the production sequences requires a commitment to a complete build cycle, costume building skills, good sewing skills, a basic knowledge of costume history and costume vocabulary and experience with industrial level costume equipment. Specialized work in this department includes wigging, costume crafts, dying and painting, draping and tailoring, advanced stitching and design assistance.

Lighting

This department is responsible for the execution of lighting designs and maintenance of equipment. Participation may require a commitment to the full sequence of a production build through to opening and may include assisting lighting designers and master electricians with lighting hang and focus and involvement in weekly topic-driven seminars. All lighting personnel are expected to have, at a minimum, basic stagecraft and electrical experience, knowledge of types of lighting instruments, systems conventions e.g. color, number sequencing etc., and an eagerness to work with a meticulous team.

Props

This department is responsible for the construction, acquisition, repair and storage of all OSF properties for all productions during the regular season. Props personnel are dedicated to the discipline and are competent in the areas of stagecraft required for prop construction, including carpentry, upholstery, graphics and sculpture.

Set Construction and Scenic Painting

This department is organized into teams that support the scenic department in the construction and painting of scenery and set pieces necessary for each production. Participation in this department requires a basic knowledge of carpentry and/or welding, and experience working with paint, fabrics and other construction materials and tools.

Sound

The design, building and running of audio materials for rehearsals and performances is a result of the collaborative work of the sound designer and technicians. Members of this department are dedicated to a career in sound and have a practical knowledge of sound equipment, including digital applications, electrics and principles of sound design. Participation may require a commitment to the full sequence of a production build through to opening and can include design assistance.
