"Teachers and students are a vital part of our audience. I passionately believe in the power of theatre to change lives, especially young lives."
Bill Rauch, Artistic Director
From its inception, OSF has been a place of learning. Festival founder Angus Bowmer’s education mission of cultivating a lifelong love of the art of theatre and the works of William Shakespeare is flourishing as never before, due to the generosity of our Bowmer Society members.
CONNECTING STUDENTS TO SHAKESPEARE
Thanks to the sponsorship of our Bowmer Society members, OSF is able to enhance the education of tens of thousands of students every year through discounted tickets and on-site workshops. In addition, OSF's School Visit Program brings Shakespeare into hundreds of classrooms and communities throughout the West and as far east as Kansas.
With the support of the Bowmer Society, more than 100 classroom teachers undergo training in the latest innovative methods of teaching Shakespeare's plays at OSF or at their schools each year. Nearly 1,000 more teachers received support and materials to instill an appreciation of dramatic literature and help them bring students to OSF.
When you contribute to the Bowmer Society you:
- Advocate for the role of the arts in education
- Provide tens of thousands of students with discounted tickets and workshops
- Champion our teachers by providing them with training and materials
- Support schools and communities through the School Visit Program
Donations of any amount are welcome and are fully tax deductible. All funds support our education programs.
