While scrolling through our blog, you probably observed the peculiarity of this title here, and wondered what in the world I could possibly be talking about. Well, unfortunately we do not have a Shakespearean Mariachi and Taiko Clown Historian coming, we have four different acts that if mushed into one person, that person would be a Shakespearean Mariachi and Taiko Clown Historian. Our acts this week are fantastic, but don't just take my word for it, let me tell you about the week a bit and see what you think.
First, we have the Shakespearean Historian. On our Green Show Stage both Tuesday AND Sunday we have the wonderful and talented Tames Alan with her Living History Lectures. At first thought, you must think, "Why would I want to go see a history lecture?" If that's your attitude, you will certainly be missing out. This is not your typical college lecture, this lecture really comes to life! Alan is not only a brilliant historian, but a brilliant actress as well! With costumes, props, and knowledge, Tames crafts amazing shows about two different topics, Elizabethan Life on Tuesday and Celtic Life on Sunday! Come watch the hilarity and learn something along the way too!
Next, we have our Taiko. On Ensemble is our amazing Taiko group this week. On Ensemble is not JUST Taiko, though. On Ensemble creates its own unique music by infusing so many different genres with their Taiko. I would describe their music more like a beautiful fusion of japanese and ancient taiko, sprinkled with the influence of modern hip-hop, rock, and electronica goodness. Come on down to the bricks this week to see this beautiful fusion created by the four amazing members of On Ensemble, Masato Baba, Kristofer Bergstrom, Shoji Kameda, and Kelvin Underwood.
Third, we have our clowns. Jill and Daryl are our comedy duo for Thursday! These two have done big things in their lives. Jill has performed in Italy and Japan with the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus! Daryl has played woodwinds in several musical performances including The Music Man and Jesus Christ Superstar! Together, these two have crafted a musical clown show that is both hilarious and educational. This is something you won't want to miss!
Finally, on Friday and Saturday we have out Mariachi band! Las Colibrí is an all women band that plays wonderful music from several genre. Though they play mariachi, they also include other genres in their unique style that makes them a very special kind of band. Be sure to stop by for their beautiful music that will make you want to dance and sing all night!
Perhaps now you understand why this blog is titled the way it is. This week is truly a significant week on the Green Show stage that you won't want to miss!
