Performing in the 2015 Green Show on Tuesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 13

This is their second season in the OSF Green Show.

Open. Funky. Sincere. Lyrical. Melodic. Exciting. Inspiring. Inviting. Surprising. Good.

The Family Band is the joyful musical child of Stew & Heidi Rosewald’s OSF 2014 production, Family Album. Cast in the show as members of an iconic rock band, the musicians discovered a great affinity for one another musically and personally; on and off stage.  As the rehearsal weeks went on they found themselves playing together in their free-time; playing music from The Band to Duke Ellington, to their own tunes. The members of The Family Band come from a varied musical background: western classical, rock, punk, jazz, blues, pop, folk and traditional Irish fiddle music. This diversity has inspired a singular sound; rooted in Stew & Heidi's rock sensibilities while incorporating their individual voices. Each band member is a band-leader in her/his own right, yet together they create a beautifully unified set of music inviting the audience to have as much fun as the band has playing together.
The Family Band has continued to play together at home in NYC and they look forward to returning to Ashland to share in the spirit of song and improvisation with the wonderful audiences of the Green Show.

The Family Band on Community:
The members of Family Band did not know each other and hadn’t worked together as a group before they joined forces as the cast of Family Album last summer. Almost immediately, a bond was formed in the rehearsal room amongst all the cast and crew. That same supportive and inspired sensibility bubbled over into the greater company and town.

While spending the summer of 2014 in Ashland, the members of The Family Band befriended some wonderful local musicians.  We were welcomed into the musical fold of the company and town with open arms and ears. The spirit of this accidental band and the beautiful exchange with the community inspired togetherness and a shared joy.

Rock, folk, punk, jazz, the blues, western classical music, Irish fiddle music - one can hear traces of all of these genres in the music of The Family band; ever expanding the circle of people that can relate to and enjoy their music.

In returning to Ashland for the Green Show, The Family Band hopes to reunite with their friends and colleagues in the OSF company and in Ashland at large; to continue to foster the community that was born from the Family Album production of 2014 and
to make more great music together!
