April 23 Panel To Focus on Shakespeare Production Choices
Is there a "Traditional" in Tradition?
Ashland, Ore. - The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will have a panel discussion, "Shakespeare, Period: How We Make Production Choices" from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on April 23 in Carpenter Hall. The event is free but tickets are required. For tickets call the Box Office at (541) 482-4331.
Panelists are Bill Rauch, Artistic Director; Dr. Lue Morgan Douthit, Director of Literary Development and Dramaturgy; Deborah M. Dryden, Resident Costume Designer; Scott Kaiser, Head of Voice & Text; and G. Valmont Thomas, Actor. Moderating the discussion is Dr. Alan Armstrong, Director of Shakespeare Studies at Southern Oregon University and dramaturg on this seasons production of Coriolanus.
The panel will touch on the topics of original practice, the history of Shakespearean productions, time periods and theatrical conventions. There will be a live webcast of the event on AshlandTV20.com. An edited transcript of the discussion will be published in the summer edition of Prologue, OSFs member magazine.
