Marc Shaiman frequently collaborates with Scott Wittman with whom he has won a Tony Award and a Grammy Award for the lyrics for Hairspray. Additional collaborations include Patti LuPone on Broadway, Catch Me If You Can and Bombshell on Broadway, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on London’s West End and songs for the television series, Smash. Most recently, they provided songs for Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, directed by Rob Marshall. Shaiman’s awards and nominations include an Emmy Award for his work on Billy Crystal's Oscar appearances, plus Oscar nominations for Sleepless In Seattle, Patch Adams, The First Wives Club, The American President and South Park—Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Other film and television work: Beaches, When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers, The Addams Family, A Few Good Men, Sister Act, Hocus Pocus, The Bucket List, Parental Guidance, Saturday Night Live, Jackie's Back, award shows with Neil Patrick Harris, Jack Black and Will Ferrell, and a collaboration with Bette Midler for Johnny Carson's penultimate show. Shaiman has co-produced recordings for Bette Midler, Harry Connick Jr. and Mariah Carey, among others.
