Performing in the 2012 Green Show on Sunday, August 7th.
32 string students from across the United States studying with premiere faculty
The 32 students represented are between the ages of 14 and 22 and come from across the country and internationally. Students are studying with Britt's String Quartet Academy Faculty during a two week stay in the Rogue Valley. They will perform at Britt Festivals on the opening night of the classical festival, August 3, and again prior to the classical concert on August 10.
Faculty: The Calder Quartet.
The Calder Quartet came together at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, and was later named as the Juilliard Graduate Resident String Quartet. In addition to performing traditional string quartet repertoire, the Calder Quartet has championed many of today's emerging composers and were co-founders of the critically acclaimed Carlsbad Music Festival. Unafraid to cross musical boundaries, the Calder Quartet also performs with bands like The National and The Airborne Toxic Event, and have toured North America with party-rock musician, Andrew W.K.
Britt String Quartet Academy on Community: Our immediate community is residents and visitors to southern Oregon who love creative, quality performing arts. Our immediate audience is classical music lovers, but we believe our community is broader than that and that classical music repertoire is for everyone if presented in an accessible manner.
