Spend six days seeing seven plays, attending lectures by theatre scholars and participating in lively discussions with visits from company members. Class fee of $680 includes tickets to Hamlet, She Loves Me, The Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night, Henry IV, Part One, Throne of Blood and Pride and Prejudice, plus two Festival Noon Lectures. Dr. Allen is a Distinguished Professor of English at UCLA, the author of a number of books and the immediate past President of the Renaissance Society of America. Since 1970 he has taught Beowulf, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton and the Elizabethans at UCLA, and has been Director of UCLA's Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies. His honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship, an Eby Award for Distinguished Teaching, various Visiting Professorships including five summers at Stratford-on-Avon and a year as a Phi Beta Kappa national lecturer, the Commendatore decoration from Italy and the prestigious Premio Internazionale Galileo Galilei for his research on Italian Platonism. Dr. Allen has doctoral degrees from Oxford and Michigan. He was born in Sussex, England.
